Maps

For the wedding invitations that I'm doing, I'm using a map for the outer envelope. So I've been spending a lot of time figuring out how big the maps need to be cut, and figuring out a way to flatten them so the creases will be new. I was thinking of dampening them and then letting the papers dry with blotter paper, but it's so humid here that I'm afraid they would take too long to dry, or get moldy, or some unfortunate thing like that.
The flowers are just pretty.

Food for Thought

I haven't done anything printerly recently, but these photos are too wonderful not to share.

Cuts

Today, I went and picked up two metal cuts from the Porch + Paddle; I'm going to try printing them, and see what they look like.
I also sold some cards! So now you can buy BCP cards in Clayton!

Book Idea!

I've come up with a new book idea; so hopefully I'll be able to be plugging away on that soon. Hmmmm... so excited to start that, not so excited for the exams coming my way.

Shot the Serif

So I'm not much for the "I shot the sheriff" song, but I thought that the "I shot the serif" was just too funny. Type humor at it's finest.

And in other news, I finished the TJ's Cakes business cards (I'll show them here once I've delivered them) this morning. Then I played around with an arrow typecut; it looks very Alice in Wonderland. It may be a slower longer project, because I think I want to layer multiple colors into it for an even more cheshire effect.

Oh! I started painting the press. So fantastic. I'll show you when it's more complete; right now I've only done two sections of about three thousand. (Slight exaggeration?)

Drawing

I've been laying out the images to have made into polymer plates; since the past few days have limited my ability to be out in the press shop. And I've been sketching things. Next is putting everything in photoshop, and then sending it off to Boxcar. Hopefully by tomorrow. We'll see about that.

Spin Art

My little cousin has a spin art thing, so naturally we had some time creating spin art. It's going on my wall of inspiration things in the print shop.

Today I didn't do so well with earth friendly, other than remembering to recycle, and also accidental carpooling--accidental because it was only a practical thing, not a planned "enviro-friendly" thing.

Haven't heard anything from Boxcar to say that my base has been shipped; but I'm planning on being up in the press shop for a while tomorrow, starting to print cards, or at least work through the bumps of first printing on a platen.

Oh, and going to get shirts for the cool crowd that is getting tee-shirts.

Last Day of March

Who knew? Trucks have changed technologically since the ones that I currently have. So I've ordered new ones. In the mean time, I've been enjoying a break from school, designing lots of things, and trying to find new jobs to print.

Oh yes, and reading. Currently, Paradise Lost, by John Milton. Not for those of faint heart who find epic poems droll, but I like it. I liked Beowulf too, though.

Also, if you happen to be reading this after 9:45, and read it earlier, yes, I did edit it. Rollers and trucks are not the same thing, and I did not order more new rollers. New trucks, yes. Not new rollers.

AND. UPS came to the house, delivered a small package. I was bummed to find out that the package was not for me.

Art

My rollers should be here at the end of the week! So excited for them to arrive from NA Graphics. And even though I was prompted to see if I had trucks for the rollers, (which I have some) I think I might be two short, which is depressing, but easy to fix.

I adore this letter "L," from DailyDropCap.com -- from what I understand, the artist has been doing a letter a day for quite some time. My friend Barry introduced me to it during the first three letters of the project, and it's been pretty interesting to watch it evolve.

Inspiration

I printed this weekend; little spring notecards. I plan on sending some out soon; mostly they were something to do that was fun while I visited Wells this weekend.
I'm buying my rollers tomorrow! Going to the bank and just doing it, rather than wait around longer. I think that will be a good adventure.

And I've been making a list of printing inspirations recently:
-chicks (I really want to build a chicken coop)
-nazca lines (National Geographic did an article on them)
-fish (I've been cleaning and changing my tanks)
-printing (because I constantly dream about it--can it be it's own inspiration?)
